The History Education Department, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), Universitas Lambung Mangkurat (ULM) successfully organized the 6th National Conference on History Education on Friday, October 3, 2025, at the Idham Zarkasi Auditorium, Faculty of Law, ULM. This academic forum brought together academics, teachers, and students to discuss and exchange ideas on the development of local historiography amid the rapid digitalization of historical sources.
The conference featured nationally renowned speakers and leading historians: Prof. Dr. Agus Mulyana, M.Hum. (Director of History and Museums, Ministry of Culture), Prof. Dr. Warto, M.Hum. (Lecturer, Department of History, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Sebelas Maret), and Prof. Dr. Bambang Subiyakto, M.Hum. (Lecturer, History Education Department, FKIP ULM), with Dr. Heri Susanto, M.Pd. serving as the moderator.
The discussions addressed various historical sources, including documents, archives, photographs, and old newspapers that are now accessible online through platforms such as ANRI, KITLV, and Khastara of the National Library of the Republic of Indonesia. This digital access has made historical research more accessible, efficient, and open to the public, enabling the emergence of new themes in local history studies. Nevertheless, historians are still required to exercise greater caution in verifying the authenticity of digital sources. In an era characterized by rapid information flow, meticulousness remains essential to ensure that historical narratives remain authentic and academically accountable.
This engaging and scholarly discussion reaffirmed the importance of collaboration among academics, practitioners, and younger generations in sustaining historical studies in Indonesia. The organizing committee extends its sincere appreciation to all speakers, participants, and committee members for their active participation and dedication in making this conference a success. We look forward to welcoming you at the next National Conference.
