Admission Process for the Bachelor's Program in History Education
NATIONAL STUDENT
National Achievement-Based Selection (SNBP)
The National Achievement-Based Selection (SNBP) is a nationwide admission pathway to Indonesian public universities, coordinated by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology through the National Selection for New Student Admissions (SNPMB) system. This pathway admits prospective students based primarily on their academic performance during senior secondary education, as recorded in official school report cards (rapor), and supported by other academic and non-academic achievements. Applicants to arts and sports programs are also required to submit a portfolio as part of the assessment.
The SNBP is implemented prior to the final school examinations and follows a centralized mechanism managed by MoECRT in collaboration with participating public universities. The process begins with the allocation of school quotas determined by accreditation status: schools with Accreditation A may nominate up to 40% of their final-year students, those with Accreditation B up to 25%, and those with Accreditation C or others up to 5%. Schools using the official e-rapor system are granted an additional 5% quota.
Eligible schools register through the official SNPMB portal at https://portal-snpmb.bppp.kemdikbud.go.id to complete the School and Student Database (Pangkalan Data Sekolah dan Siswa-PDSS). Based on academic ranking, nominated students then activate their SNPMB accounts, complete their personal data, select up to two study programs at one or two public universities (subject to prevailing regulations), and upload the required documents, including portfolios if applicable.
Selection is carried out centrally by the SNPMB Committee, which evaluates candidates based on academic records and documented achievements. Results are announced through the official SNPMB portal, after which admitted students proceed with the registration process at the respective universities according to each institution’s policies and timelines.
Students admitted via the SNBP route are not eligible to participate in the Computer-Based Written Examination for the National Selection of State Universities (UTBK-SNBT) or other public university admission routes within the same academic year. This selection pathway serves to ensure equitable access for outstanding students nationwide while maintaining the integrity and quality standards of higher education in Indonesia.
National Selection Based on Test (SNBT)
The National Selection Based on Test (SNBT) is a national university admission pathway in Indonesia organized by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology through the National Selection for New Student Admissions (SNPMB) system. The SNBT is conducted after the completion of final school examinations and utilizes a Computer-Based Written Examination (UTBK) as its primary selection instrument, along with other criteria determined jointly by participating public universities.
The SNBT is open to graduates of senior secondary education (SMA/MA/SMK or equivalent, including Paket C) from the last three years, provided they are under 25 years of age and have not been admitted through the SNBP pathway in the same academic year. Registration is carried out online via the official SNPMB portal at https://portal-snpmb.bppp.kemdikbud.go.id, where eligible candidates create and activate their accounts.
Once logged in, applicants complete their biodata, choose study programs, upload any required portfolio for specific fields, select their UTBK test location, and confirm their participation by printing the official examination card. The UTBK–SNBT schedule and test regulations are announced on the official SNPMB website and on the websites of participating universities. Applicants choosing Universitas Lambung Mangkurat as their UTBK location can access relevant details via the official university admissions page at https://pmb.ulm.ac.id.
After the UTBK is conducted, the SNPMB Committee evaluates the results and announces the selection outcome through the official portal. Successful candidates must then complete the re-registration process according to the schedule and requirements specified by the admitting university, as published on its official admissions website.
The SNBT pathway ensures an objective and merit-based selection process that provides opportunities for a broad range of applicants nationwide, supporting the principles of fairness, transparency, and quality assurance in higher education admissions.
Independent Selection Pathway (MANDIRI)
The Independent Selection Pathway at Universitas Lambung Mangkurat (ULM) is an admission route governed by a Rector’s Decree and implemented in accordance with the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education Regulation No. 90 of 2017. This regulation authorizes public universities to conduct their own independent selection processes based on institutional policies, with the intake quota for each study program limited to a maximum of 30% of its total capacity.
As part of its commitment to widening access to higher education, ULM opens the Independent Selection Pathway to prospective students who were not successful in the National Selection Based on Test (SNBT) process, allowing them to reapply and select the same program of study. The pathway is also available to graduates of senior secondary schools (SMA/MA/SMK or equivalent) from the past three years who wish to continue their studies at the university level.
The selection process is conducted through two distinct tracks. The first is the general track, which requires applicants to participate in a Computer-Based Written Examination (UTMBK). The second is the special track for applicants who have memorized the entire Qur’an (30 Juz), in which the written examination is replaced by a memorization test.
Comprehensive information regarding the Independent Selection Pathway, including announcements, application procedures, and registration timelines, is made available through ULM’s official admissions portal at https://pmb.ulm.ac.id. The re-registration process for successful candidates mirrors that of the SNBP and SNBT admission routes, encompassing the same schedules, requirements, and procedural steps as published on the official portal.
INTERNATIONAL STUDENT
Admission Requirements and Procedures for International Students
International applicants who wish to pursue their studies at Universitas Lambung Mangkurat are required to fulfill both academic and administrative requirements as stipulated by the university. Academically, applicants must submit legalized copies of their latest diploma and academic transcript issued by an authorized institution. For study programs conducted in English, applicants must provide proof of English proficiency with a minimum score of 550 on the TOEFL ITP or 5.5 on the IELTS. For study programs delivered in Bahasa Indonesia, applicants are required to obtain a TIBA certificate or proof of participation in the Indonesian Language for Foreign Speakers (Bahasa Indonesia bagi Penutur Asing/BIPA) program.
In addition to academic requirements, applicants must submit several administrative documents, including a valid passport, recent passport-sized photographs, a medical certificate issued by a recognized healthcare institution, and a financial guarantee statement from a sponsor or responsible party to ensure sufficient funding for tuition fees and living expenses. For postgraduate programs, additional academic recommendation letters may also be required. These documents serve as the basis for initial evaluation in the admission process.
The registration process for international students is conducted entirely online through the official Universitas Lambung Mangkurat admission portal at https://pmb.ulm.ac.id. Applicants are required to create an account, complete the online application form, and upload all necessary supporting documents. Once the application form is submitted, applicants must proceed with the payment of the registration fee through the university’s designated payment system.
All submitted documents will be verified by the admission team. If deemed complete and valid, the university will issue a Letter of Offer, followed by a Letter of Acceptance (LoA). The LoA serves as the official document required for processing a study permit, student visa or socio-cultural visa, and a temporary stay permit (KITAS) in accordance with Indonesian immigration regulations. Upon the completion of all administrative and immigration processes, international students are expected to arrive in Indonesia, report to Universitas Lambung Mangkurat, complete the academic and administrative registration process, and subsequently commence their studies in the chosen program.
Tuition Fee for the Bachelor’s Program in History Education
The Single Tuition Fee (Uang Kuliah Tunggal/UKT) is a tuition system implemented by Universitas Lambung Mangkurat (ULM) for all new students starting in the 2024/2025 academic year. This system is designed to promote equity in access to higher education by taking into account the financial capacity of each student’s family. Under the UKT scheme, students are required to pay only one consolidated tuition fee per semester, which already covers the main educational expenses, without additional charges except for certain personal needs.
According to the Rector’s Decree of ULM Number 2063/UN8/KU/2024, the History Education Study Program under the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) has a Single Tuition Cost (BKT) of IDR 10,137,000 per semester. From this BKT, eight tiers of UKT are set, which are adjusted based on the student’s economic background. The UKT range for History Education is as follows:
- UKT 1: IDR 500,000 per semester
- UKT 2: IDR 1,000,000 per semester
- UKT 3: IDR 2,300,000 per semester
- UKT 4: IDR 2,600,000 per semester
- UKT 5: IDR 2,771,000 per semester
- UKT 6: IDR 3,464,000 per semester
- UKT 7: IDR 3,700,000 per semester
- UKT 8: IDR 4,156,000 per semester
The placement of students into these categories is determined through an online verification system (https://ukt.ulm.ac.id), which evaluates the family’s financial capacity. Through this approach, students from families with limited financial means are placed in lower categories (UKT 1 or 2), while those with stronger financial capacity are assigned to higher tiers.
The implementation of UKT in the History Education Study Program reflects ULM’s commitment to ensuring fairness, transparency, and sustainability in higher education financing. By consolidating costs into a single scheme, the university eliminates multiple types of charges that previously burdened students, thereby creating a more accessible and equitable educational environment. This policy ensures that financial constraints do not become a barrier for prospective students, allowing higher education to be more inclusive and attainable across different socioeconomic groups.
