Students of the History Education Study Program held a Project Exhibition for their Nusantara History Course from the Early Common Era to the Classical Era on Thursday, June 17, 2024, at Bauntung Field, University of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (ULM). This activity served as a creative evaluation of the course, which explores the political, social, cultural, and religious dynamics of the Nusantara archipelago from the early Common Era to the era of classical kingdoms such as Kutai, Tarumanegara, Srivijaya, and Majapahit. Through the exhibition, students presented various research-based projects and historical interpretations in the form of dioramas, infographics, replica artifacts, and thematic performances.
The exhibition not only showcased learning outcomes but also served as an interactive space that invited visitors to understand the nation’s historical heritage through visual and narrative means. Each exhibition booth was designed as a miniature journey of civilization, depicting Indonesia’s rich history in the past. Visitors could engage in direct dialogue with the students, who served as exhibition curators, fostering an educational and inspiring exchange of knowledge. Through this activity, students were trained to think critically about history, creatively convey information, and communicate effectively in explaining historical material to the public. This exhibition is proof that history learning does not have to be limited to the classroom, but can be brought to life through participatory approaches and direct experience.
